Wixom, Michigan is a city of roughly 17,600 residents tucked into the western edge of Oakland County, about 30 miles northwest of downtown Detroit along the I-96 corridor. For fifty years the town's identity was defined by a single address: the Ford Wixom Assembly Plant, a 320-acre facility that built Lincolns, Thunderbirds, and other Ford nameplates from 1957 until its closure in 2007.

That closure could have hollowed out the local economy the way it did in other single-employer manufacturing towns across Michigan.

Instead, Wixom rebuilt around a more diversified base, and the former assembly plant site is now home to Wixom Assembly Park, a five-building Class A industrial campus positioned for warehousing, distribution, and advanced manufacturing at the I-96 and Wixom Road interchange.

The employer base reflects that diversification. Trijicon, a firearms optics and sighting-device manufacturer, is headquartered in Wixom. Discraft, one of the best-known names in disc golf and flying-disc manufacturing, runs its headquarters and production out of the city.

Niterra North America, the entity behind NGK Spark Plugs in the United States, is headquartered here as well, alongside Rockwell Medical, a publicly traded pharmaceutical company focused on kidney disease treatments.

Add in window manufacturer Majic Window, and newer arrivals like TYC Americas, Remora, and Renaissance Global Logistics, and Wixom looks less like a company town recovering from a plant closure and more like a compact, multi-industry manufacturing and logistics hub.

That mix is exactly the kind of environment where automation delivers outsized returns. A manufacturer running shift-based production still processes purchase orders, quality documentation, and supplier communications largely by hand. A logistics operation moving freight through the Wixom Assembly Park corridor is drowning in load confirmations, appointment scheduling, and status-update phone calls.

A healthcare or life sciences office near the Beck Road corridor is fielding patient intake calls between compliance paperwork. And the small businesses filling in Downtown Wixom's Pontiac Trail corridor are trying to compete with national chains at Twelve Oaks Mall a few miles east, without a fraction of the back-office staff.

Every one of these operations runs on repetitive, rules-based work that eats hours and money it does not have to.
